The former synagogue is open during the season as follows:

Tuesday – Friday: 10 am – 5 pm
Saturday, Sunday & public holidays: 10 am – 6 pm

Closed on Mondays (except Easter and Pentecost Monday)

We recommend that you buy your tickets online before your visit. This provides a contactless, hassle-free experience and reduces queues at the ticket counter.

Please select a day ticket for the day you wish to visit. Tour tickets can also be purchased in advance to secure your place. Print-at-home tickets will be emailed to you immediately after purchase. 

Accessibility

The main entrance provides barrier-free access to the main space. For access to the exhibitions in the women’s gallery, please use the lift to the left of the entrance at Lederergasse 12 (turn right around the corner from the main entrance). Please let the staff at the ticket counter know that you would like to use the lift.

At the entrance you will find exhibition catalogues and a selection of publications by the Institute for Jewish History in Austria on the synagogue and its community, Jewish history in Austria, and topics related to Jewish religion and culture.

There are several ways to get to the Former Synagogue from the main station (Hauptbahnhof St. Pölten):

LUP city bus: 
The Former Synagogue is directly accessible by LUP city bus lines 7 and 8 (departing from Hauptbahnhof St. Pölten, the main railway station). The “Steinergasse / Ehem. Synagoge” bus stop is opposite the Former Synagogue. 

All LUP buses are barrier-free

Buses run every 30 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every hour on Sundays and public holidays.

On foot from St. Pölten Central Station (Hauptbahnhof St. Pölten) 

Coming out of the main rail station, walk straight ahead in the Kremsergasse pedestrian zone to Riemerplatz, turn left into Wienerstrasse, straight on to Kugelgasse (turn right into the first street), left into Fuhrmannsgasse, then again right into Lederergasse and straight on to the Former Synagogue on Dr. Karl Renner-Promenade.

Walking time: approx. 12 min. (850 m)

Parking: There is very little parking nearby. Please use the underground car park in the cultural quarter (Kulturbezirk), which is about a 5-minute walk from the Former Synagogue (parking is free after 5:35 pm).
