The Former Synagogue St. Pölten is not a museum - the most interesting and beautiful "object" is itself. The room and the permanent presentation "The Synagogue and its Community" tell the story of a once active Jewish community, its extermination during the Nazi era and its significance for current issues. 

From April 11 to November 9, 2025, the temporary exhibition ‘I am an Austrian!’ The photographer Kurt Bardos (1914 Brno – 1944 last trace Auschwitz) shows the impressive photographic work of Kurt Bardos and tells the story of the eventful fate of his family from the perspective of his sister Ilse.

The 2025 season begins on April 11 and ends on November 9. The synagogue room is not heated during the winter months. For visits outside the opening period, a request is required: anmeldung@ehemalige-synagoge.at.
